Prayer Update: Core Team Beginnings

Up until this point, my residency has consisted primarily of training and strengthening my Biblical convictions about church planting and God’s design for churches. As we enter the fall, the time has come to start more actively moving toward planting.

From the start, Cortney and I have known we will need a strong team around us to plant a church. This is typically called a core team. We have felt drawn towards planting in Papillion, but we also know that if that is where God is leading, He needs to be working in other people’s hearts to join us in this Gospel endeavor. This fall, we are inviting people from First City Church who may be interested in helping plant in Papillion to attend three prayer and informational meetings.

Beginning to recruit a core team will include general invitations to the church to attend these meetings. It will also include having conversations with certain people to directly ask them to be part of the team.  

This time of exploration is marked by both excitement and uncertainty. Both we and First City recognize that based on the level of interest, God can either use this time to confirm our call to plant in Papillion or to redirect us in some way.

Please be in prayer that if this is truly where God is leading, He would develop a strong passion in many people’s hearts to help further the Gospel in Papillion through a church plant.
